"an education in the fullness of humanity should be the defining feature of Catholic schools." Pope francisSJCES Strategic Plan 2022-2027
Did you know that Catholic Schools within the diocese of Salt Lake go through a rigorous accreditation process every 1-6 years (based on the most recent accreditation findings) to ensure schools meet strict academic and faith formation standards.
The Accreditation Process includes:
Self-Study- Schools complete a comprehensive internal self-evaluation. This process begins more than a year before the next accreditation cycle. Principals, teachers, admin personel, students, and families all participate focusing on key areas- Catholic Identity, leadership, curriculum, operational vitality, and student learning.
Visiting Committee- A team then conducts an on-site evaluation (typically lasting 2 to 4 days) to review evidence, interview stakeholders, and assess school operations.
Commission Vote- The visiting committee recommends an accreditation status, which is officially voted on by the WCEA commission (typically in May). Terms commonly last up to 6 years.
Once completed, the school begins implementing their self created strategic plan for the duration of time until the next accreditation. These plans help keep schools on track, forward focused/planning, and accountable. Check out the chosen goals from our last accreditation. While there is always work to be done, much progress has been made.
