Who We Are

Mission Statement

Saint Joseph Catholic School provides students with the invaluable opportunity to expand their knowledge, explore their passions, create community, strengthen their sense of self, and come to know God all in one place.

These three words are the pillars of our school’s philosophy.

We believe in our students. Our students believe in themselves. At the heart of everything we do is our Catholic faith. It is instilled in the daily life of the school through curricular and co-curricular activities. Understanding God in Christ helps students believe in themselves, building confidence and self-worth.

BELIEVE

Our students achieve. With small class sizes, we are able to achieve personal excellence in an academic community focused on nurturing and uniquely journeying with each student who enters our doors.

ACHIEVE

Our students inspire us. Guided by God’s grace, we give students the tools they need to shape their futures and to become their best selves. As educators, we are proud, humbled, and inspired by their success and excited to celebrate their bright futures.

INSPIRE

Our History

Saint Joseph School opened its doors on April 1, 1877, on 25th Street between Lincoln and Grant Avenues. Started in the basement of Saint Joseph Catholic Church and led by Notre Dame graduate, Florian De Voto and the Sisters of the Holy Cross, we are humbled by the fact that we are the oldest Catholic school in Utah. We have moved locations a few times over our 145-year history, but our mission has always stayed the same — to prepare the students of Ogden and its surrounding communities for a life of compassion, service and success.

Our 145th Year

A Celebration

Last year we were blessed to kick off our 145th school year of Catholic education in Northern Utah! As we celebrate a new school year, we are focusing on the future and what lies ahead. We look to the bright futures of our students. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of our dreams.” Our students are our future and they have a dream and we are proud and honored to help them accomplish it.
