Student Uniforms

It is important for all individuals in the school community to present a good appearance. This shows respect for each other and for one’s self. Pride in one’s appearance is important in academic and professional settings. The uniform policy will be strictly enforced and may be enforced for any school sponsored or school related event. Interpretation of and changes to the uniform policy will be at the discretion of the principal.

Non-Uniform Days: All Grades

First Fridays are non-uniform days. Students must wear practical clothing considering the weather and modesty. Acceptable jewelry remains the same as any other uniform day.
Students may not wear:

Oversize, extra large or baggy-fitting clothes. Jeans must be in good condition without holes.
Clothing with inappropriate or suggestive words, symbols or pictures.
Gang related clothing or hats.
Hats in the building (boys or girls)
Tight fitting clothing, short skirts, short shorts, bare midriffs or spaghetti strap tops or dresses.
Shoes and/or sandals without socks.

Boy’s Uniforms All Grades

Shirt: Solid white oxford with button-down collar and solid white polo. Either can be long or short sleeved. No logos or turtlenecks. Shirt must be tucked in pants.
Pants: Plain dark navy blue dress twill slacks-Docker Style-available through Dennis Uniform or other approved brands and styles. This list is available in the front office. Pants must fit student properly.
Shorts: Dark navy blue twill shorts available through Dennis Uniform or other approved brands and styles. Shorts may only be worn first and fourth quarters.
Belt: Solid brown, black or navy blue must be worn with shorts and long pants. No oversize belt buckles nor logos. A belt is required in grades 3-8 and must be worn through the loops at the waist.
Socks: Crew, solid white or navy blue with no logos. Socks must cover the ankles.
Vest: Fleece vest available only through Dennis Uniform Company. It is not a required part of the uniform and may be worn at the student’s desk if desired.
Sweater: Solid color, plain design (no ribbing, etc.) navy blue cardigan-style only. It is not required and may be worn at the student’s desk. Sweater Vest: Solid color, plain design (no ribbing, etc.) navy blue pullover-style. Dennis style # 066000-976. This is an optional choice.
Sweatshirt: NOT PART OF THE REGULAR UNIFORM. Blue or white sweatshirts with SJCS logo may be purchased through Jr. Jaymart. Sweatshirts can be used on non-uniform days and everyday during the second and third quarters of the school year.

Best Dress: Boys

Best Dress Shirt: The white Oxford shirt as described above, long or short sleeves. No polo shirts.
Best Dress Pants: Pants as described above. No shorts. Belt: Belt as described above.
Optional: Vest, Sweater Vest
Optional Ties: Ties may be worn by eighth graders only. Ties must be Black Watch Ties purchased from Dennis Uniform. This is a privilege that our eighth grade, the upperclassmen of our school, look forward to each year. Please respect our tradition; your child too will look forward to this privilege.

Girl’s Uniforms All Grades

Shirt: Solid white oxford with button-down collar and solid white polo. Solid white broadcloth blouse with button down front and Peter Pan collar. These may be long or short sleeved. No logos or turtlenecks. Shirts must be tucked into pants.

Jumper: Grades K-3: Black watch plaid jumper with knife pleats and split bodice through Dennis Uniform Company only. (Style #18401A-201185) The length of jumper must be no more than 1” above knee. Skirt: Grades 4-8: Black Watch kilt through Dennis Uniform Company. Style #03135A The length of the kilt must be no more than 1” above the knee.
Socks: Crew solid, plain white or navy blue with no logos. Neither sport socks, ankle crews nor low-cut socks are allowed. Socks must cover the ankle.
Vest: Fleece vest available only through Dennis Uniform Company. It is not a required part of the uniform and may be worn at the student’s desk if desired.
